drinking water from sea water

IDRO Group solutions for sea water desalination and drinking water production

Sea water has a high salt concentration and cannot be used directly for human consumption. For this reason, IDRO Group has developed compact and transportable sea water desalination systems capable of producing safe drinking water efficiently, reliably, and automatically.

Depending on the characteristics of the water and operational needs, these sea water treatment systems combine various technologies including filtration, microfiltration, reverse osmosis, remineralization, and disinfection.

All units are designed for use in emergency situations, remote communities, military bases, construction sites, missions and resource-scarce environments.

Blue Sea System – Modular mobile unit for brackish and sea water

The Blue Sea System includes two integrated modules:

  • Blue Filter: removes turbidity and organic contaminants through sedimentation, sand filtration, and activated carbon
  • Blue Sea Island: handles sea water reverse osmosis, microfiltration, remineralization, and includes a CIP (Cleaning in Place) system

It also features an on-site chlorine generator and can be transported using a NATO-type trailer, making it ideal for rapid deployment in emergency zones.
Drinking water production: up to 2.5 m³/h.

Blue Sea Island – Compact Desalination System for Sea Water in Emergency Use

The Blue Sea Island is a compact trailer-mounted unit designed to produce drinking water from saline sources (up to 45,000 ppm TDS).
It integrates pre-treatment, microfiltration and marine-grade reverse osmosis membranes.

The system is fully automatic and ready to operate upon delivery.
Perfect for mobile camps, humanitarian missions and post-disaster response.
Production capacity: up to 1 m³/h

Blue Sea Shelter – Containerized desalination plant for continuous use

The Blue Sea Shelter is a containerized sea water desalination system, ideal for semi-permanent or long-term installations.

It includes:

  • Pre-treatment stages with sand, activated carbon and cartridge filters
  • Reverse osmosis system with high-pressure pumps, energy recovery, and automatic backwashing
  • Control panel for fully automated operation

It can be enhanced with water storage tanks, solar panels, and power generators.

Available in various models with drinking water output ranging from 3 to 7 m³/h.
