An acronym for Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor. This technology is based on an adhered biomass process. This process is based on the use of plastic supports, kept in suspension and in continuous movement in the treatment reactor. The excess biomass detaches from the support and is sent together with the oxidized slurry to the subsequent sedimentation section. The heart of the process is composed of the supporting elements of the biofilm on which the growth of microorganisms takes place. Oxygen is supplied by blowers in the form of air introduced through micro bubbles from the membrane diffusers placed inside the basins.
