MBR

Acronym of Biological Membrane Reactor. MBR technology combines a biological process with a membrane separation system. It allows to obtain purely effluent purified with considerable space saving compared to traditional systems: the active biomass is separated from the purified effluent by means of membranes instead of sedimentation, which is often the weak point of an activated sludge treatment plant . Membranes are generally polymeric, but there are more recent applications of ceramic membranes.
