In the pit there are 3 layers: a superficial one (foam zone), one on the bottom (sludge zona) where the heavier substances settle and an intermediate one consisting of clarified slurry. Septic tanks cannot be used in new buildings on the basis of the provisions of law 319, G.U of 21.02.1977.
